Introducing: Katie Forsyth. Media Ambassador.

Hi my name is Katie Forsyth, I’m 20 and a HND Media and Communications student, looking to get a career in film and tv production.

I’ve always been interested in a career within media but it took me a bit longer to decide it was definitely for me and what exactly I wanted to do.

I am currently working on editing and finalising my my documentary on Instagram influencers as part of my Video Production class, alongside a feature piece on how horror movies reflect societal fears for Journalism and a website to showcase all my work from the past two years!

A woman I find inspirational in media is: Reese Witherspoon. She is inspirational because not only is she a fantastic actress, she has also created a production company, Hello Sunshine, that is focused on telling female driven stories for film, tv and streaming platforms.

Hello Sunshine also had a Filmmaker Lab to teach 20 girls aged 13–18 the art of film making and hosts a book club where Reese will announce a new book every month that sheds light on inspiring women amongst many other things.

I think this is inspirational because she is using her platform to uplift other women. Which is what I want to do.

What I’m currently watching: The new season of Euphoria and loving every stress inducing moment and also ‘Suits’ which is something I never thought I’d enjoy but have been pleasantly surprised.

What I’m currently listening to: The Vaccines latest album ‘Back In Love City’ to prepare myself for their gig at Barrowlands in April & the ‘Nags and Brags Podcast’ hosted by the hilarious Roisin Kelly and Clyde 1 Radio DJ Cassi Gillespie.

Favourite TV show: Is a toss up between Skins and Bojack Horseman.

Favourite motto: Better safe than sorry.
